In 2021 Slovenia is nominated European Gastronomical region. Gourmet Slovenia tour is prepared for foodies and anyone interested in local cuisine experiences combined with wine experiences. Taste wines from three wine growing regions ranging from dark dry red, rose to white sweet wines and local speciality AMBER wines. All this you will experience in combination with beautiful historical and natural sights in known and remote locations around Slovenia away from the crowds.

Day 1

Ljubljana

Arrival in Ljubljana, meeting your guide and transfer to the hotel to relax before starting Gourmet tour of Slovenia. Sightseeing tour and dinner at JB’s in the evening. Overnight in Ljubljana.

Day 2

Ljubljana – Stična – Kostanjevica na Krki – Otočec

First we drive to Stična and visit the oldest Slovenian (Cistercian) monastery dating back to 1132. We continue towards the Dolenjska region and drive along the Krka river to Kostanjevica na Krki. We visit its art gallery before reaching the Otočec Castle complex on a small island in the middle of the Krka river. Dinner at Otočec Castle and overnight at Otočec.

Kostanjevica na Krki is tiny rural settlement on and island on Krka river. It used to be the oldest town of the region and today its known for former monastic complex, which was severely damaged in World War II.

Day 3

Otočec – Žalec – Logar Valley

In the morning we drive towards Žalec to visit the interesting Hops museum and afterwards we continue to the Logar Valley for beautiful views of this spectacular Alpine landscape park. Dinner and overnight at Hiša Raduha.

One of many stunning castles of Slovenia: Otočec Castle, located on the Krka river, nowadays turned into a hotel where you can spend the night or enjoy in the fine dining.

Day 4

Logar Valley – Volčji potok – Bohinj – Bled

Our drive takes us to lakes Bohinj and Bled via Kamnik and on the way we also visit Volčji Potok Arboretum, the most visited botanical garden in Slovenia. In Bohinj we take a cable car to Mt Vogel for view of the Julian Alps, and in Bled we enjoy the view from the castle. Dinner and overnight in Bled.

Day 5

Bled – Mojstrana – Trenta – Kobarid

In the morning we drive to Mojstrana to visit the Pocar farm house. Then we continue to the Vršic mountain pass, we arrive at Trenta and stop at Bovec to visit a cheese producer. Later, we drive towards the Mangart saddle and the valley of the river Soča to Kobarid to visit a WWI museum. Dinner and overnight in Hiša Franko.

Day 6

Kobarid – Goriška Brda – Karst

In the morning we take a hike on a Kobarid trail and visit the Kozjak Waterfall. Later we continue to Goriška Brda to visit the most famous wine producing area in Slovenia. We stop at a local wine producer for wine tasting. Next, drive through the Vipava Valley for a scrumptious dinner. Overnight in Karst area.

Day 7

Karst – Lipica – Piran – Istria

We start the day driving through the Karst area via the Lipica stud farm dating back to 1580 – birthplace of Lipizzaners and continue to the coast to visit Piran and the Sečovlje salt pans where they still produce salt in the same way as they did in the 12C. In the afternoon we drive towards the inland of Istria and taste some delicious local food. Overnight in Slovenian Istria.

Lipica stud farm on the border with Italy was established in 1580 by Austrian Archduke charles for needs of military. In Lipica you can enjoy in performace of Classical riding school several days per week and walk among stables holding more than 400 Lipizzaners.

Day 8

Istria – Ljubljana

After breakfast we end our tour with a transfer to Ljubljana airport to end Gourmet tour.
