Venice with Slovenia and Croatia

Day 1

Venice arrival

Arrival at the Venice airport. Meet and greet with your private guide/driver. Check-in to the hotel and free day at leisure. Overnight in Venice.

Day 2

Venice

Full day to explore the canals of Venice and its main attractions like Rialto, st. Mark´s square, Canal grande, Doge’s Palace etc. Also possible visit of nearby islands of Murano and Burano. Overnight in Venice.

Day 3

Venice – Trieste – Miramare – Piran

After breakfast drive from Venice to Croatia and before that stop in Trieste, northern Italian port that used to be the most important port of Habsburg empire. Walk through the old streets and visit the famous Piazza Unita Italia square. Nearby we will also visit the picturesque Castle Miramare, built by archduke Maximilian of Habsburg in 1860 as his residence. Next we drive towards Slovenia and its the beautiful coastal town of Piran, set on a peninsula and overlooked by grand church of St. George. Walk over the Tartini square and admire the old Town hall, Courthouse and other colourful Venetian houses surrounding the old square. Overnight in Piran.

Day 4

Piran – Motovun – Plitvice

In the morning we leave Slovenia and head towards the extremely picturesque Istrian town, Motovun, set on top of the hill above valley of river Mirna, famous for truffles. Afterwards we continue to Plitvice where you will visit the famous UNESCO protected lakes. Overnight in Plitvice.

Day 5

Plitvice – Mali Ston – Dubrovnik

We continue Venice with Slovenia and Croatia tour with drive towards Southern Dalmatia to visit the Pearl of Adriatic, Dubrovnik. On our way we will stop at Mali Ston to taste famous oysters and in the afternoon we arrive to Dubrovnik for the sightseeing tour of old town and possible late walk on the city walls. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 6

Dubrovnik

Full day to relax and explore Dubrovnik on a walking tour. Among others you will be able to see the background for the Game of Thrones series where Dubrovnik served as scenery to King`s landing. Possible visit of Lokrum island to visit the ruins of the old monastery and relax between the greenery. In the evening you can watch the sunset from the Imperial fortress above the town. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 7

Dubrovnik – Split

After breakfast we continue towards Split to visit the spectacular old city centre and Diocletian’s Palace, built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Walk through the narrow streets to see Peristyle, the cathedral, Golden Gates, substructures of palace (another Game of Thrones setting), etc. Overnight in Split.

Day 8

Split – Zagreb

This morning we head towards the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, for a walk tour through the old town with the spectacular cathedral, Dolac farmers market and many charming squares (Ban Jelacic, St. Marks etc.) and streets full of joyous people. Overnight in Zagreb.

Day 9

Zagreb – Postojna Cave – Ljubljana

Morning drive via the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, towards Postojna Cave to visit the 21 km long cave with a underground train ride. Postojna Cave is number one attraction in Slovenia. In the afternoon arrival to Ljubljana and walk along Ljubljanica river to explore the vibrant farmers market and other interesting sites in this tiny European capital. Overnight in Ljubljana.

Day 10

Ljubljana – Bled – Bohinj

In the morning we will head to the Lake Bohinj, surrounded by Julian Alps and take a lift to the Mount Vogel 1535 meters high for a beautiful panoramic view. In the afternoon we will head to a true paradise, Lake Bled, to visit the island with a church and a mighty castle, 130 meters above the lake. Overnight in Bled.

Day 11

Bohinj – Valley of river Soča – Venice deparutre

We start the day heading to the heart of Julian Alps and ascending to the top of the Vršič mountainpass, 1611 meters high. On the other side we enter into the Soča valley and drive along the gorgeous emerald river that used to be frontline between WWI. In the afternoon stop among the vineyards of Goriska Brda for some wine and lunch and finish the tour with arrival to Venice in the late evening.
